Been wondering what is a manga. Certainly not a fruit. But really, how
different is it from a regular comic
book? Manga addict Sadogori lent
me a few. Ah, it is a comic book. What is interesting is the Japanese
culture it reflects. Young boys with wispy hair, schoolgirls in short
uniforms, heirarchy for names and titles to name a few.
Also fascinating is the casual writing / drawing style that can toggle between serious and comedy. The characters can switch from a normal human face to a distorted silly face in 2 to 3 frames. It is almost like a live conversation.
Ouran High School Host Club (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouran_High_School_Host_Club) is an easy read. Light, funny and even witty, it is entertaining for a first time manga reader like me.
Looking forward to the next volumes. Who will Haru end up with? My vote (for now) -goes to Mori...
